Alana R. Sohan, Esq.

Attorney

Alana R. Sohan, Esq.  is a newly licensed attorney, having passed the bar and officially becoming an attorney in May 2025. She is deeply committed to the mission of keeping families together and advocating for the well-being of children. Alana (re)joined the firm as a full-time lawyer upon graduating law school and taking the New York bar exam. Upon becoming fully licensed Alana has taken on more responsibilities in the law firm and clients are quickly turning to her for reassurance and advice.

 

Education

Alana received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from John Jay College of Criminal Justice-CUNY graduating in May of 2020.

Alana received her Juris Doctor from Touro University Jacob D. Fushsberg Law Center graduating in May of 2024. There, Alana received a CLEA Award for excellence in clinical performance. Alana also received a Pro Bono Award for exceptional services beyond her clinical sites. She also was a recipient of the Public Interest Fellowship where she dedicated a summer to working in the public sector.

A Little Bit About Alana…

Alana's journey in the legal field began at the Jagan Law Firm, where she started as an intern and worked her way up to a paralegal role. There, she focused on Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) cases, providing crucial support to survivors of domestic abuse in their fight for safety and a new beginning. Alana connected with clients while working in the firm before leaving for law school and she has had a great impact on their immigration journeys, many of these clients are extremely proud to see her as an attorney with the firm today.

Driven by a profound sense of justice and a desire to make a tangible difference, Alana pursued her law degree at Touro University. During her time in law school, she enriched her experience through internships with the Nassau County Department of Social Services, where she prosecuted cases involving child abuse, and with the New York City Law Department in the Family Court Division. In these roles, she worked with juvenile delinquents, ensuring they received the support and services needed to reintegrate into society and avoid future mistakes.

Alana’s return to Jagan Law Firm is both a homecoming and a heartfelt recommitment to her core values. Her dedication to preventing family separation through immigration laws is fueled by her love for children and her unwavering belief in family unity. At Jagan Law, Alana finds not just a workplace, but a place where her passion and expertise can truly make a difference. She is thrilled to bring her experiences full circle and continue advocating for those in need with the same fervor and dedication that first inspired her career.

Alana is a cherished member of the firm, respected by all team members and clients. Alana works on all firm cases and attends immigration interviews with clients, she is a zealous advocate for all clients. The firm is extremely grateful to have Alana back after her absence during law school.  

Alana recently married her husband Anthony in August 2025.

Alana is licensed to practice law in the State of New York.
